Urpflanze is the name of our agricultural society; we were inspired by an imaginary plant that Goethe conceptualized in the essay The Metamorphosis of Plants, in which we are dealing with an original plant, Ur-pflanze precisely, which would be the origin of all other plants.

This concept came to the German intellectual during his first trip to Italy in 1786, specifically during his visits to the botanical gardens of Padua and Palermo.

We are fascinated by Goethe’s thoughts on observing, preserving, and cultivating the diversity of plants in the place where we are located: the Casalino18 estate and its surroundings.

We aim to pursue an agricultural, tourist, and cultural project that emphasizes biodiversity in botany and agriculture, and from there, extends hospitality to all the guests who come to visit us.

Through the collaboration of those who become part of our project over time, we intend to provide in-depth knowledge about the Montagnola region, particularly in the fields of agriculture, nature, gastronomy, and culture, both locally and within the broader Siena area.

For the past ten years or so, we have been professionalizing in agricultural-agritourism hospitality, local cuisine, and organic farming, supported by a humanities education.
